The revitalization of the 1970s office building exemplifies a thoughtful approach to existing structures from the recent past. As part of the redesign, the gutted building was given a new natural stone façade made of beige limestone, with cornice bands in the form of shadow grooves referencing the neighboring neoclassical villa.
The simple façade relief gives the building a finely structured appearance. The now vertically oriented façade design dissolves the stocky massing of the original structure and, in a sense, retroactively integrates the building into the streetscape of Frankfurt.
In another key step, the office building was quite literally brought back down to earth, as the former parking deck on the ground floor was converted into the main entrance area.
